Engine and Installation Surveys

Detailed inspection of the engine(s) and its/their installation in a vessel. 

The survey thoroughly inspects the;

  • Engine block

  • Gaskets

  • Core plugs

  • Injectors / HT leads and sparkplugs

  • Belts

  • Hoses

  • Fastenings

  • Cathodic protection

  • Cooling system

  • Oil sump and gearbox oil condition (sent for analysis)

  • Gear and throttle connections

  • Shaft couplings

  • Propeller shaft

  • Propellers

  • Stern gear

  • Engine mounts

  • Engine bearers / bed

  • Fire fighting and fire prevention measures

  • Fuel tanks

  • Fuel supply lines

  • Filtration 

  • Exhaust elbows

  • Waterlocks

  • Mufflers

  • Skin fittings 

  • Seacocks and valves

  • Wiring

  • Engine start batteries

  • Air supply

  • Insulation

  • Running temperature

  • Running inspection

The findings are compiled into a detailed report with reference photos which is saved in PDF format and sent to the client within a week of the survey date.

This gives great insight to the current condition of an engine and the suitability of its installation which the client can utilise to make informed decisions regarding purchasing, selling, or maintenance and overhauling.
